Ergonomic Seating
Ergonomics has been the industry “buzz” word ever since the mid 1980’s. During this time computers began to play a larger role in workers everyday routine and work related injuries began to get noticed and recorded. The Bureau of Labor Statistics states an estimated $15 billion to $20 billion in workers’ compensation costs are related to musculoskeletal disorders. The Bureau also states that 34% of all lost workday and illnesses are caused by these injuries.
Ergonomics has always been entrenched into every product series that MOST Chair companies design. We not only understand the true meaning of ergonomics and how it affects the human body, we care about our end-users and design our chairs to help protect them from musculoskeletal disorders.
We know that sitting for a long period of time is not healthy for bodies. When a person stands the spine maintains its natural curvature called Lordosis and pressure is evenly distributed along your backbone. When a person sits the body flattens the lumbar causing uneven pressure on the disks of the spine, this is called Kyphosis. Kyphosis strains the muscles and causes lower back pain. The human body searches for the natural balance and support when sitting maintaining the Lordosis curvature.
To reduce the stress of the lower spine and encouraging the body to naturally sit in the proper position, we incorporated the follow features in our task seating. Our chairs adjust to the user not the user adjusting to the chair.
- Lumbar adjustment—you need to have an adjustable lumbar so the user can quickly and easily adjust the back height to comfortably support the lower spine.
- Multiple size seat pans—these options in its task series which provides the user the proper seat size encouraging movement throughout the day for increased fluid circulation.
- Waterfall seat edge—This contour of the seat is imperative for blood flow to the legs when sitting.
- Seat foam—incorporates multi-layer cushions which provides a customized fit for all-day comfort and support.
- Standard gas lift pneumatics—This allow the user to adjust the chair to the proper height so feet rest comfortably on the floor.
- Task Mechanisms—This provides are large selection of task mechanisms so the user can be provided the right amount of adjustment depending upon the task.
- Available adjustable height arms—Arms need to be adjusted to the proper height for the user to provide support which will help prevent Cumulative Trauma Disorders
We truly care about the long-term health of the end-user and how these injuries can strain a company financially. By incorporating all these features, we provide the user with ammunition to prevent musculoskeletal disorders and cumulative trauma disorders.
